Privacy Policy

PinVoyage ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the PinVoyage mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Name and display name
  • Email address
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Username
  • Authentication credentials (managed securely via third-party providers)

Location Data

With your permission, we collect:

  • Precise location when you check in or drop a pin
  • Background location (only when Find My Friends is enabled and you have opted in)
  • Location history associated with your pins and check-ins

Photos and Media

When you choose to attach photos to your trips or check-ins, we store those images on our servers. Receipt photos used for AI scanning are processed and stored securely.

Contacts

If you choose to sync your contacts, we access your device's contact list solely to help you find friends on PinVoyage. We do not store your full contact list on our servers — only matched results are retained.

Usage Data

We automatically collect:

  • Device information (model, operating system, app version)
  • App interaction data (features used, screens viewed)
  • Crash reports and performance data
  • IP address

AI Chat Data

When you use the AI-powered logging feature, your chat messages and uploaded content (photos, receipts) are sent to our AI provider for processing. These interactions are used to generate trip logs and extract information on your behalf.

Financial Information

Expense amounts and split details you enter are stored to provide the expense tracking feature. We do not collect or store credit card numbers or bank account details — all subscription payments are processed by Apple or Google.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Create and manage your account
  • Display your pins, check-ins, and trips on the map
  • Enable social features such as Find My Friends and city guides
  • Process AI chat requests and receipt scanning
  • Track and display shared expenses
  • Send you service-related notifications
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the app

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate PinVoyage:

  • Supabase — Database, authentication, and file storage. Your account data, pins, trips, and photos are stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase Privacy Policy
  • RevenueCat — Subscription management. RevenueCat processes and manages your Pro subscription status. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
  • Anthropic (Claude AI) — AI-powered features. Your chat messages and uploaded content are processed by Anthropic's AI models to generate trip logs and extract receipt data. Anthropic Privacy Policy
  • Google Maps Platform — Geocoding and map services. Location queries are sent to Google to convert addresses and coordinates. Google Privacy Policy
  • Apple / Google — In-app subscription billing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive or store your payment card details.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share your data only in the following circumstances:

  • With other users — Your profile, pins, check-ins, and city guides may be visible to friends or the public based on your privacy settings. Find My Friends location is shared only with approved friends.
  • With service providers — As described in the Third-Party Services section above, solely to operate the Service.
  • For legal reasons — If required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of PinVoyage, our users, or others.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

AI chat logs are retained for up to 90 days for service improvement and then automatically deleted.

6. Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data at any time by:

  • Using the "Delete Account" option in the app (Settings > Account > Delete Account)
  • Emailing us at german.hall728@gmail.com

Upon deletion, all your personal data — including pins, trips, photos, and chat history — will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
  • Row-level security policies on our database
  • Regular security reviews

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

PinVoyage is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Request a portable copy of your data
  • Withdraw consent for location tracking at any time via your device settings

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
